EXT. CARL'S HOUSE - DAY

Vera comes walking on the pavement, having ditched her car. She nonchalantly walks through the front gate of Carl's house, and goes around to the back of the house. There she glances around, and sees that the back garden is very private, nobody can see what happens there.

She kneels down on the ground in front of the back door, pulls out the metallic comb from a jacket pocket, and a Leatherman from its holster in the belt on her back. She quickly and expertly opens the Leatherman, uses the pliers to snap off the pins of the comb. She ends up with a strange slim, pointy piece of metal.

Vera inserts the remains of the comb into the lock of the back door, inserts a hair pin as well, grabs the comb with the pliers, and does some quick twisting and jerking, and the lock opens. Vera is clearly good at picking locks.

Vera picks up all the comb pieces she's dropped, and enters the house, pulling the door closed behind her.
